Cylinder Press from Topflight's Humble Beginnings

History

1950
Beginning in its first manufacturing plant in York, Topflight was one of the first label printers in the industry. Utilizing its engineering experience from World War II, Topflight also designed the earliest printing presses. In 1959, a modern printing press was completed which would prove to be so efficient and reliable that dozens are still in use around the world today.

1960
Topflight Corporation continued to design and produce printing presses, and aggressively developed a number of advanced labeling solutions, including shrinkable films, self-destructing materials, and unique adhesive applications. In 1961, Adhesives Research was created to chemically engineer adhesive solutions existing companies could not achieve.

1970
Topflight continued to experiment with several emerging electronic products, offering a number of alternative electronic solutions through conductive printing, sensors, and membrane switches. To specifically meet the technical needs of membrane switches and biosensors, Conductive Technologies was formed in 1979.

1980
Topflight Corporation continued to expand its product base and expertise with new equipment and materials, and experimented further with printed conductives and specialized pharmaceuticals. Rotary screen and combination printing capabilities were added with the installation of Topflight’s largest press.

1990
With the creation of a specialized product development group, Topflight concentrated on investigating the newest available innovations and technologies. The first tests in digital printing, island placement, and drug delivery systems were accomplished. In 1994, Topflight became ISO 9001 certified.

2000
After relocating to a 97,000-square-foot facility in Glen Rock, Topflight completed the construction of a Flexible Converting System which was designed to meet the converting challenges of the earliest RFID tags. Supply chain and security solutions were added to an impressive arsenal of capabilities, and quality assurance was enhanced with Six Sigma initiatives.

2010
Topflight has added many capabilities in the most recent decade of business, including a full prototype lab and multiple precision converting presses. An investment in a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system has helped streamline operations and reduce entry and paperwork errors through integrated data management. In 2013, Topflight became ISO 13485 certified, and 2014 brought digital printing capabilities with the addition of the hp Indigo WS6800.
